I will issue the finalized version on Sept 22. Since 2.0 didn’t happen I left in some of the fun objective cards and scenario mods I have used in the past to Mix things up ;-) If you haven’t already go register! www.infernalzoo.com We Currently have 34 people signed up. 5 of which are tentative, but the I know at list 7 people not on the list who are likely.. soo I would say 30 playrts is a pretty safe and 40 is in sight! Lists will be Due Sept 29! ( I will retype them all into army builder and distribute the day of). Payment I’m officially asking for payment now. The Recommended registration fee is $30+ see website for details on how the budget is going. Based on Initial registrations, I’m going to keep the facility I have now and cap the players at 40, so get your reg fee in now to reserve your spot ;-) Blood Bowl Will be Friday night! NAF rules 1000 pt lists with 6 skills. Johns thinking we will just have some round robin games and some awards for things like most TDs, most inflicted injuries, most suffered injuries, etc. We will have a couple extra teams so let me know if you want to play and we will hook you up! People can just come for blood bowl if you like. Banquet On Saturday night we will have a dinner banquet at de’veers Irish pub. Please RSVP to me so I can get an accuratte food order in. This will cost like $10-15 per person (depending on registration income and attendance). Also at the Banquet we will have the final Haiku vote off and award the Zoo Keepers club challenges. Ok, that’s it for now. More on the way and feel free to ask me any questions at all. Cheers, Alex Just about a week to go until the Zoo! Time to wrap up that painting and if you haven’t already register:
www.infernalzoo.com. Couple of quick updates. We have upped the Malifaux tournament to 50 soul stones and the final 9th age tourney packet has been uploaded to the website. The only notable change to the 9thage tourney packet (I think…) is that all monsters are now considered scoring units for purposed of objective scoring. As per the main rules, scoring units are normal units with banners that don’t have the “light troops” rules. There will be some objective points to grab so make sure you have some scoring units! People have asked me how may monster they should bring. You could still do fine if you have zero, you just may miss a couple objective points, I would recommend at least one. More if you like rolling stomps ;-). And reminder it’s a straight up 2000 point list as per the standard list building rules. You aren’t required to send them in early ( I will be reviewing them that morning), but I would be happy to go over them in advance if anyone has in questions. We will have some prizes! Justin from Secret Weapon miniatures has gift bags for all with a lil something something! https://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/ Josh is getting a Wyrd Prize packet for Malifaux and I’ve got some good donations to add to my prize pool for the pother awards. Still a little short on overall costs so probably won’t get fancy plaques or medals, but I will cook somethin up… As usual feel free to ask any questions you may have and hope to see you soon! Here is the 3rd update for the Zoo. Below is a general update, some info on awards, 9th age “Hotfix”, and a spotlight on the “This is Not a Test” game (plus see attached pics/preview). As usual feel free to send me any questions you may have. The website is: Infernal Zoo So we are about 3 weeks out, registration and the $$ pledge is moving along, so far $620 of the $770 needed to break even has been pledged (a few people haven’t chimed in on their pledge so I assumed at least $15 for those). Make sure to sign up soon that we can arrange for the right amount of tables being setup. We will have prizes! Secret Weapon will be providing some of its amazing painting products for prizes and Josh will be getting prize support from Wyrd. Also several people have offered to bring in additional prize support from their personal treasure troves! Remember there will be painting awards so go ahead and add on some more highlights in the next coupl’a weeks ;-) The 9th age “Hot fix” rules update summary can be found here: http://www.the-ninth-age.com/news/index.php?news%2F424-the-hotfix-is-here%2F All the applicable downloads have been updated, this is mostly a nerf to “too” popular units. Quick details are included at the end of this message. This is not a Test! We have been having great fun with this game all year and Tony has setup an excellent campaign for those wanting to get in on the action. We will have games Friday night and Saturday. So if your Playing Malifaux, come up on Saturday and take on the Apocalypse, or if your doing 9th age come down on Friday Night. Newcomers welcome and we will have premade warbands. “This is not a test” (TNT for short) is a post apocalyptic skirmish game that is miniatures independent. Its an excellent game to scratch that hobbist itch with great opportunities for modeling, converting, and building terrain (we have a pretty decent terrain set for a blasted Sacramento at this point, and who dosn't wanna see that). This is combined with excellent balanced gameplay to result in a really satisfying gaming experience. Typical model count is 5-10 miniatures and the rules are a great evolution of the necromuda-Mordheim type systems incorporating modern tweaks. A excellent Demo video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHYUTxIA2P4 And there is great community and developer support on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/905688146148353/ Attached are some preview pictures of our terrain set and a flyer Tony put together for the Infernal Zoo event 9th Age Update Changes to each army book summarized below (these will be used for our the 2016 Infernal Zoo). EOS - The altar of battle goes up to 200 points HBE -The skysloop mount will loose its shooting weapon and becomes 20 points cheaper. ID - The Kadim titan will go up 25 points, and the Titan looses its 4 plus wardsave (still retaining its 5+ wardsave OK - Tribesmen will lose their Heavy Armour SE - Entwined roots will have a maximum unit size of 6 VC - We will change ethereal to 3+ / 5+ and also make the green knight from KOE a bit cheaper) VS - Plague Pendulum will go up to 215 points Rulebook -There will be a lot of clarifications in the rules themselves (think FAQs etc). -Rule changes to prevent “character teleportation”. Cheers! Alex This is a general update with some more details on the Malifaux event.
Sign ups and pledges are rolling in. Please RSVP to secure your spot. It tricky logistically to set everything (terrain, tables, objectives, etc) up for the different games so I will need to plan for how many people I think are coming. I’m currently planning on 20 - 9th age platers, 16 - Malifaux players, and 10 - “This is Not a Test” (TNT) players. So make sure to send me a note or reg. form if you are planning on coming. If there is enough demand I can adjust my plans but if the spots all fill up you may not be able to pile in at the last minute. To reserve your spot RSVP and to really lock it in send in your pledge $$. Planning for the 9th age US Masters tournament is going on right now. The Infernal Zoo will most likely be a qualifier tournament for the West Coast region. The Malifaux tournament on Sunday will be a three game 40 soul stone sore based event. We are using the Califaux scenarios as a template with changes to the details to support a revised story. If you have any comments on how those scenarios played out please forward them on so Josh can incorporate your comments as he finalizes the scenarios. The story will be all new of course and will probably involve monsters, potentially zoos, and perhaps infernal things. There will be painting awards for all games, models/ armies are required to have been fielded at some point to be eligible for an award. On a final note, “trap” music is official banned from the Zoo. G damn that stuff pisses me off, and also no weasels. Feel free to ask me any questions! Cheers, Alex Hey Everyone, Here are a few updates. This email will focus on some 9th age info Along with some general Venue notes. Info on the other game systems to follow soon. We are going to be in the building we had 4 years ago, which was a great spot. Its adjacent to Redwood park and we will get a keg this year (for those of age…), or bring a cooler if you so desire, and there is even a convenient Pokegym right outside J. We are just getting started and there have been some great pledges and we are already 1/2 of the way there! Sign up now and keep the momentum rolling! I get a lot of looks at the website and I’m sure people want to know who is coming and what they are gonna play. Keep those pledges rolling in , any extra will go for things like prize support and the above mentioned keg… The draft Tournament Packet for 9th age upload on the website (bottom of home page): http://www.infernalzoo.com/ So we have a couple of options for 9thage. If you wanna try it out on Saturday and Play Malifaux or Frostgrave on Sunday, sign up for “Curious”. If you want the full GT 5 games go “Committed”. We have people signed up for both (and everyone is in the same “Pool” on Saturday. Also Friday nightwe will be playing the Post Apoc “This Is Not A Test” and throwing a few back so make sure to show up for that! A few of you may have dusted off those boxes and are wondering “Is my army any good now” ? Well there are plenty of Obsessive number crunchers on the 9th age forums that have run statistics on the performance of all the current 9thage armies based on this year’s UK/Europe/and US Tournaments. Check out this thread for the info: http://www.the-ninth-age.com/index.php?thread/15643-data-analysis-team-report/&pageNo=1 I’m happy to see my beloved Chaos/Infernal Dwarves above the curve (well sorta happy), that bringing up the point you will need to track down the revised name/Abbreviation for your army book. You will find all the old 8thed units are in your new list as well as quite a few units from past editions, we have found that they have made a great effort on internal unit balance. Overall units have been toned down across the board, so if your thinking your favorite unit got nerfed.. maybe it did, but it still might be pretty damn good in context. I must say divorcing the rules making from the miniature making/selling has some pretty big benefits to game play… You can also track down all the 9th age ETC lists on the forums to get an idea of what people are taking (typical disclaimer about ETC meta blah blah). If you peruse the rules packet you will find I’m sticking very closely to the Base 9th age rules. No fancy monster contingents this year, though I will still have the monster themed objective cards. Anywho… the comp packet is draft. If you have questions please let me know, so I can revise the packet or issue FAQ’s. If you’d like off this email list please reply back with “unsubscribe” Cheers, Alex The Zoo Keepers club challenge is back again this year. This trophy will go to the club with the highest average battle score after the first 3 battles. Here are the details:
- 5 people minimum to qualify as a club. - We'll use the Average battle + comp score for the 1st three games, all players in club used, tossing out high and low scores - Rank bonus! Your all monsterous infantry right? For every 3 club memeber after the first 3, your team score will be boosted 5%! Round up the troops! - Winning club anounced Saturday night at the buffet/pub (trash talk away!). - I'll have another highly coveted (possibly gold spray painted monster... ) trophy for the winning team, and some sweet medals (top 5 battle scores on winning team) Below are some of Last year's Winners (LD2) Living it up. Time to knock those guys the podium :-) The Dates are set for Sept 27th and 28th. The Draft Tourney pack has been added to the main page. Be sure and fire off any comments on new rules and or spelling (I love that :-) ) . We got a new item, new secenario, new sports scoring, and no more long akward story telling (its a Haiku!).
Cheers, Alex Hello Everyone,
Here is a quick update… Registration is going well with 19 people sigged in and 4 rock stars all paid up (Josh R, Ed, Van, and Doc!). Please throw your name in the ring! I already have a bigger venue lined up from last year, but there is still time to upsize if I know we have the bodies. Plus, I would need to grind out some more tables, we will have none of that green felt stuff around here. The rules pack has been finalized, so go out to WWW.InfernalZoo.com and download it. A couple quick notes on changes from last year. White dwarf binding scrolls are no longer being used but you can now use “Monsters” from your own book as part of your zoo contingent, with a few exceptions (ehumm… Terrorgeists, Hell Cannons, and Frost Heart Phoenixes, so simmer down I won’t let somebody wreck the my tourney with 5 terroregist screams). Contingent monsters do not impact your main list in anyway, so you Warriors players can finally spam 4 vortex beasts down someone’s throat J . Make sure you read through the special rules as you build your lists. Things to look out for include: Special Magic items. Contingent Monsters Require a Wizard “Keeper” / Unit Some items are banned/BSB only (i.e. banner of the world dragon) Somemonsters got nerf batted (e.g. Carmine Cragon) Attached is a flyer with all the basic info. Please forward this to your local game store and interested friends. Also feel free to stand in front of the Victoria’s Secret at the mall and hand them out. Every little bit helps J . hand them out at game nights, or There is a blog section on the website where you can post questions (email works fine too), I also have a list of loaner monsters there… Y’all should be brain storming lists, maybe a play test here and there. Last year there were some awesome conversion and I hope to see that trend continue. Feel free to fire off questions (bizarrohammer1@yahoo.com) or ask how certain things will comp (best I can on that one J ). Cheers! Alex |
